Terms of Service

Effective date: July 17, 2026

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of describemusic.net and the AI audio analysis services provided by Describe Music ("the Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Describe Music provides AI-powered analysis of audio you upload, including music description, song recognition, sheet-music transcription, mix QA and related tools. Features, limits and supported formats vary by plan and may change over time.

3. Accounts

Some features require an account. You can register with an email address and password or sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when registering. We may suspend accounts that provide false information or that are used to abuse the Service.

4. Credits, Free Trial and Subscriptions

Usage of the Service is measured in credits. Credits are consumed based on the duration of the audio you analyze (approximately one credit per second of audio), and each feature may have its own limits. Anonymous visitors receive a limited free trial tied to their device; registered users receive a free monthly credit allotment.

Paid plans are sold as monthly subscriptions and are billed and processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation stops future billing and your plan remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Prices and plan contents are shown on the pricing page and may change for future billing periods with reasonable notice.

Unused credits do not roll over beyond the period or cycle in which they were granted, and credits have no cash value and are not transferable.

5. Your Uploads

You retain ownership of the audio and other content you upload ("Your Content"). By uploading, you grant Describe Music a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit and analyze Your Content solely as needed to provide the Service to you (including sending it to the third-party processing providers described in our Privacy Policy), and to display your results back to you.

You represent and warrant that you own Your Content or have all rights, licenses and permissions needed to upload it and to grant the license above, and that your uploading and use of it does not infringe the rights of any third party (including copyright, performers' rights and privacy rights) or violate any law.

6. Prohibited Content and Conduct

You may not upload content or use the Service in any way that:

  • is illegal, or infringes copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy or other rights of any person;
  • contains child sexual abuse material, or exploits or harms minors in any way;
  • contains malware, or is intended to disrupt, probe or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure;
  • attempts to circumvent usage limits, credit accounting, authentication or security measures (for example by forging device identifiers or creating multiple accounts to extend free trials);
  • involves scraping, bulk automated access outside of our published API, or reselling the Service without our written permission;
  • is defamatory, harassing, hateful or otherwise objectionable.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts involved in violations, and report unlawful content to the relevant authorities where required.

7. Accuracy and Service Limitations

Analysis results — including descriptions, tags, BPM/key detection, song identifications, transcriptions and mix feedback — are generated by AI models and automated systems. They may be incomplete, inaccurate or wrong, and they are provided for informational purposes only. They are not professional advice of any kind, and you should verify any result before relying on it (for example before publishing, distributing or making rights decisions based on a song identification).

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available, and features may be modified, suspended or discontinued. Usage and file-size limits apply as described on the site and may differ by plan.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service itself — including the website, software, models, branding and design — is owned by Describe Music and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited right to use the Service under these Terms, no rights are granted to you.

As between you and Describe Music, you own Your Content, and the analysis results we generate for you from Your Content are yours to use. You grant us the right to store and display those results back to you as part of your account history.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time, and you may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or abuse, or where required by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability) survive termination.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Describe Music will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or, if you paid nothing, to the minimum amount permitted by applicable law.

11. Changes to the Service or These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top shows when they were last revised. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice on the site. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
